Beginner guide
A natal chart is a symbolic map of the sky for a particular date, time, and birthplace. In astrology it is used as a reflective language: the planets describe themes, the zodiac signs describe tone, houses describe areas of life, and aspects describe relationships between chart points. This calculator is designed as a clear first step, not as a replacement for personal judgement or professional advice.
A natal chart, or birth chart, shows where the Sun, Moon, planets, and important chart angles were placed for your birth details. The chart wheel gives a visual overview, while the tables below it make the placements easier to read. Hermetic Arts keeps the language beginner-friendly and symbolic so you can explore the pattern without turning it into a fixed prediction.
The report includes planetary signs and degrees, major aspects, Whole Sign houses when birth time supports them, the Ascendant or Rising sign, Descendant, Midheaven, and Imum Coeli. It also creates a private browser-generated PDF, so you can download the chart and interpretation without creating an indexable result page.
Birth time affects the Rising sign, houses, and angles because those points depend on the local horizon and sky rotation. If your time is exact or approximate, the calculator can show those time-sensitive parts with the appropriate confidence. If your time is unknown, Hermetic Arts still calculates the planetary placements but does not fabricate a Rising sign or house positions.
The Sun is often read as a central life theme, while the Moon is used for emotional rhythm and instinctive response. The Rising sign describes the eastern horizon of the chart when a birth time is known. Houses connect planets to broad life areas, and aspects describe geometric relationships such as conjunctions, trines, squares, and oppositions.
The anonymous public calculator is ephemeral: it calculates in the browser/server flow for the current request and does not create a saved AstrologyChart.
